Started in 2006 and currently part of the netaudio scene, abyssal plains is a musical project, specialising in downtempo(ish) electronica.

With an emphasis on melody and atmosphere, the music has been labelled ambient/idm, though I prefer to describe it as progressive electronica. Influences include, amongst others - William Orbit, Boards of Canada, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, and also composers such as Ennio Morricone and John Barry. The tracks range from atmospheric textures combined with subtle melodies to more beat-driven pieces.
